Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka joined the International Economic and Tourism Forum of Zakarpattia: energy, logistics, exports and tourism
On 3-4 October, the International Economic and Tourism Forum of Zakarpattia: Energy, Logistics, Exports and Tourism was held. The event was aimed at discussing the diversification of the logistics system in times of war and the development of multimodal terminals in the region, their role in the foreign economic activity of the region and Ukraine. Information was exchanged on the operation of multimodal terminals in neighbouring Eastern European countries (Hungary), on the prospects for the development of alternative energy sources as an important factor in improving the energy security of the region and the country. Presentation of women's entrepreneurship in Zakarpattia during the war and its contribution to the export potential of Zakarpattia. Development of tourism in Transcarpathia and Ukraine in general. Tools for cooperation between regions. Integration of Ukraine into the European tourism space. Identification of problematic issues that hinder the development of tourism, logistics and exports, as well as ways to solve them.
The forum was attended by representatives of UzhNU, logistics hubs of Zakarpattia, territorial communities of Zakarpattia region, international donor organisations, international tourism organisations and leading experts of the Ukrainian tourism industry, representatives of regional military administrations, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, etc. Rector of Uzhhorod National University Volodymyr Smolanka joined the panel discussion: ‘Business and education: how to combine efforts to develop the economic potential of the region’.

The event was organised by the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine as part of the project ‘Supporting Inclusive Economic Development in Ukraine by Linking Export Promotion with Regional Development and the Sustainable Development Goals’ with the support of the international cooperation project ReACT4UA (‘Application and Implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the Field of Trade’), funded by the German government and implemented by the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
