Students from UzhNU’s Medical Faculty No. 2 were honored for their achievements in sports competitions

An awards ceremony for students of Medical Faculty No. 2—participants and winners of the annual sports competitions—was held at the Rector’s Office of Uzhhorod National University. This year, the sports festival once again brought young people together around team spirit, healthy competition, and an active lifestyle.

Sports competitions are held annually at Medical Faculty No. 2, and this year was no exception. Taking into account the students’ national preferences, the list of disciplines was expanded this time. In particular, participants had the opportunity to compete in cricket, soccer, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and chess.

During the event, it was emphasized that athletic achievements are the result of hard work, self-discipline, and endurance—qualities that build a strong character and are important not only in sports but also in academics and future professional careers.

Vasyl Kaliy, Dean of Medical Faculty No. 2, congratulated the students and thanked them for their active participation in the faculty’s sports life. “I am grateful for your participation in the competitions and the enthusiasm you demonstrate. The medical profession requires not only in-depth knowledge but also the ability to make quick decisions and apply them in practice. It is precisely these qualities that you develop during sports competitions. Sports unite us and shape traits that are extremely important for future doctors. I am convinced that our students not only study successfully but also care about their physical development, demonstrating high results in sports,” noted Vasyl Kaliy.

He also added that it is gratifying to see how future doctors recognize the importance of maintaining their own health and staying in shape. That is why, during the awards ceremony, the winners were honored with well-deserved trophies and medals. Photos from the awards ceremony can be viewed at the link.

Rostyslav Holovchanskyi, Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Medical Faculty No. 2, spoke about student engagement and the significance of such initiatives. “About 150 students from our faculty participated in the event. We aim to demonstrate that, despite all challenges, the university leads an active and fulfilling life. The security situation in our region remains one of the most stable in the country, allowing students not only to receive a quality education but also to spend their free time in an interesting and meaningful way,” noted Rostyslav Holovchanskyi.

Such initiatives once again confirm that student life at UzhNU is not only about studying but also about opportunities for comprehensive development, the cultivation of leadership qualities, teamwork, and a culture of healthy living.

The Faculty of Medicine expresses its gratitude for assistance in organizing the sports competitions to:

Eduard Syvokhop, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Physical Education; Andrii Kurta, Director of the UzhNU Sports and Health Complex; the students and faculty of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education who participated in organizing and officiating the competitions; and, separately, Ivan Marionda, Head of the Department.
