UzhNU and MSU introduced themselves to potential applicants in Berehove

Uzhhorod National University has launched a career guidance campaign across the cities of Zakarpattia. On March 19, representatives from various faculties visited Berehove to meet with prospective applicants. The meeting took place at the Gabor Bethlen Lyceum in Berehove.

“We traditionally conduct the career guidance campaign in several stages. The first stage of this calendar year has already taken place: on March 3, we organized an online event—an Open House. And now we have begun the second stage. Throughout March and April, we will be traveling to regional centers and other cities in Zakarpattia Oblast. The third stage will be an Open House Week in Uzhhorod,” says Ihor Korol, Vice Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work at UzhNU.

This year, in accordance with the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On the Establishment of Uzhhorod University,” UzhNU and Mukachevo State University began the process of merging into a single educational institution. Consequently, both universities embarked on the career guidance tour together—as one team.

During the event, university representatives told students about the structure and educational opportunities. The students learned about the faculties, majors, and educational programs. Particular attention was paid to admission requirements, as well as career prospects after graduation, since for many students this is one of the key factors in choosing a future profession.

Each department found its own way to engage the high school students. At the medical faculty’s table, students learned how to perform chest compressions correctly. Next to it, the Faculty of Mathematics and Digital Technologies invited students to play computer games. Geographers demonstrated how to use a surveying instrument. Physicists amazed visitors with the opportunity to observe a drone in flight through special glasses. Philologists conducted language games.In parallel with the faculty representatives’ activities, Vice Rector Ihor Korol delivered a separate informational lecture for teachers. The teachers learned about the university’s structure and received explanations regarding the rules for submitting applications for admission, as they are often the first advisors for students in this process.

Such events help young people make an informed choice about their future profession. For many students, these meetings serve as the first step toward getting acquainted with student life and open up prospects for personal and professional development.
