Experiences of students from the Faculty of Foreign Philology during their semester studies in Romania

The Erasmus+ programme continues to open new horizons for UzhNU students. This time, students of the Faculty of Foreign Philology went abroad for a semester study, which lasts from 1 October 2023 to 15 February 2024. The students were happy to share their unforgettable impressions of studying at the University of Pitesti (Romania):

Diana Lisnichuk, 3rd year student majoring in English Language and Literature:

"Studying under the Erasmus+ student exchange programme was an exciting and informative experience. The international environment inspired me with new ideas and views, and communication with students from different countries broadened my understanding of the world. The lecturers were friendly and experienced, which made my studies effective and interesting. Outside of the curriculum, I had the opportunity to explore the culture, history and beauty of Romania, which made this time even more unforgettable. I am grateful to everyone involved for this incredible opportunity."

Anna Shyman, 2nd year student of Romanian Language and Literature:

"A lot of new acquaintances, unforgettable impressions, emotions and experiences are the words that best describe this semester of the Erasmus+ project in Pitesti. In addition to lectures in classrooms, I learned invaluable life lessons, namely, not to be afraid to go into the unknown and try something new, to get out of your comfort zone and achieve your dreams, to set goals and to believe in yourself, despite the statement "fear has great eyes". During this period, we learnt to take a much simpler and more positive attitude to life situations, and once again realised that we had made the right choice in choosing our faculty and speciality. We met wonderful people from all over the world, learnt about their cultures and realised that no matter how different we are, thanks to our knowledge, we can find a common language with anyone and even build friendships that will last a lifetime. We are grateful to the faculty and teachers of the Department of Romance Languages and Foreign Literature Oksana and Taras Datsio, who are always there for us and will continue to support us."

Kseniia Kaniuka is a 4th year student majoring in English Language and Literature:

"When I was still at school, one of my most cherished dreams was to study abroad. To feel that "vibe" when you are a student in another country, when a foreign language becomes the number one language, when you have the opportunity to learn two more foreign languages in addition to English. New acquaintances, friends from many of the most unpredictable parts of the world, and most importantly, the creation of a new version of your own self. Building new knowledge and skills, brick by brick. My dream came true at the Faculty of Foreign Philology, thanks to the Romanian Language and Literature programme. I became interested in Romanian culture when I was a child, probably after watching the film about Count Dracula. Studying in Romania sparked an even greater interest in the culture of this country. Unsurpassed and picturesque landscapes, friendly people and qualified teachers who supported me throughout my studies. While studying at the university, I gained a lot of new knowledge, and most importantly, I realised that the direction I chose resonated with me. The most important conclusion I made during my Erasmus+ internship is not to be afraid to take risks and try something new, because when our heart is open to the world, the world is open to us.

Halyna Mylio, 4th year student majoring in English Language and Literature:

"The Erasmus+ student exchange programme is an unexpected, always different, but definitely interesting adventure that brings new impressions, emotions and, of course, experience to life. Meeting students from different countries, communicating, exchanging impressions, constantly using a foreign language in everyday communication - this allows you not only to improve your knowledge, but also to find friends and discover a lot of new things for yourself and in yourself. Mobility allows you to see interesting places, get acquainted with the colour and soul of the country. I would like to thank you for such an incredible opportunity, unique impressions and memories.

Anastasia Moldovan, 2nd year student majoring in Romanian Language and Literature:

"Being a student of the Erasmus+ project in another country is undoubtedly an exciting and challenging experience. During our studies, we met new cultural, linguistic and social challenges. Studying in another country allowed us to broaden our horizons and explore new horizons. It also helped us improve our language skills and gave us the opportunity to see the world from a different perspective. We got a chance to build international friendships that will last a lifetime. Studying in another country gave us the opportunity to expand our personal and professional potential and become a global citizen. So I would like to express my gratitude to our best teachers who support us in the most important moments of our lives.

Lilia Popovych, 4th year student majoring in English Language and Literature:

"I have always dreamed of travelling, and when I heard that I had the opportunity to go to Romania for a semester of study under the Erasmus+ programme, I just couldn't miss this chance. During our stay there, we visited couples, went on various excursions and met many wonderful people. It all became an unforgettable experience for us and an opportunity to learn something new. I would also like to thank our teachers Oksana and Taras Datsyo, who helped us to realise our dream and supported us throughout the semester.
