Uzhhorod National University has improved its position in the academic ranking ‘Top 200 Ukraine 2025’, taking 15th place

The Euroosvita International Project Centre has presented its nineteenth academic ranking of higher education institutions in Ukraine, ‘Top 200 Ukraine 2025’. Uzhhorod National University has improved its position, taking 15th place. In 2024, UzhNU ranked 18th in the Euroeducation ranking.

When compiling this year's ranking, experts took into account current trends in the transformation of higher education, which is undergoing profound changes caused by both structural reforms and large-scale losses resulting from full-scale military aggression against Ukraine.

The Berlin Principles, adopted by the participants of the second IREG meeting (Berlin, Germany, 18–20 May 2006), as well as the IREG recommendations following the 2024 conference – IREG 2024 Conference ‘AI Influence on Higher Education and Rankings’ – were taken into account in the work on the ranking.

The main conclusion of the IREG-2024 conference is that artificial intelligence is already significantly transforming higher education – from teaching and research to university evaluation systems – and is beginning to influence the very methodology of academic ranking. With this in mind, when compiling the Top 200 Ukraine 2025 ranking, greater attention was paid to indicators that reflect the impact of artificial intelligence on research, innovation and the social impact of universities.
