UzhNU is certified in three scientific directions
The examination of more than 500 scientific institutions and institutions of higher education regarding their scientific activities has been completed.
The certification was carried out according to a new methodology developed and approved in 2024, and was conducted through the National Electronic Scientific System URIS, which ensures transparency and anonymity of the evaluation process. The examination was conducted by more than 2,000 experts, of which almost 200 were from other countries, according to 37 criteria, including personnel potential, publications, international projects, attraction of international funds and the impact of research on the development of various spheres of society, etc.
Institutions of higher education were divided into four groups (А–Г), reflecting the level of scientific potential and the impact of research results.
According to the results of the state certification, the State Higher Educational Institution "Uzhhorod National University" was certified in the following areas:
- "Natural and mathematical" - qualification group A (Order of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine dated October 15, 2025 No. 1360);
- "Public" - qualification group B (Order of the Ministry of Education and Culture dated 06.27.2025 No. 945-25);
- "Biomedical" - qualification group B.
Attestation of scientific areas in categories A and B provides the university with the right to basic funding of scientific activities in the areas of "Natural and Mathematical" and "Biomedical" in 2026-2030. In addition, the results of the certification will affect the determination of the types of higher education institutions, the allocation of places in postgraduate and doctoral studies, and access to international programs, including World Bank projects. It is no less important that this result opens the possibility for UzhNU to acquire the status of a research university.
Sincere thanks to all employees and structural divisions of the university, who made a significant contribution to the preparation and successful passing of the certification. In particular, these are the teams of the departments of physical, biological, medical, medical No. 2, economic, legal and geographical faculties, faculties of mathematics and digital technologies, health and physical education, information technologies, social sciences, international economic relations, NNI of postgraduate education and pre-university training, NNI of dentistry and laboratory medicine, NNI of chemistry and ecology, employees of the NNI laboratory of space research, Scientific research and educational center of molecular microbiology and the immunology of mucous membranes and the Research Institute of Solid State Physics and Chemistry, the personnel department, the Scientific Library, the financing and accounting department, the international relations department, the editorial and publishing department, and the Educational and Scientific Center for the Training and Certification of Highly Qualified Personnel.
