UzhNU hosted a two-day workshop on the first aid for psychological traumas held by the scientists from the USA

A two-day international seminar-workshop on the first aid for emotional trauma was held on September 16-17, 2022. The event was initiated and organized by the Department of Health Sciences of the Faculty of Health and Physical Education of UzhNU. Eduard Syvohop, the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health and Physical Education addressed the participants of the seminar with a welcome speech on behalf of the university. He noted the social and practical significance of the event aimed at providing psychological aid to the population during the war.

Specialists from the USA, Dr. Jamie D. Aten, a disaster psychologist, and  Kent Annan, shared their own experience of helping people in times of crisis. The topic of the seminar "First Aid for Emotional Trauma - Rapid Response" brought together about 300 participants - students, teachers, practicing psychologists, doctors, volunteers, temporarily displaced persons - in the large hall of UzhNU. According to the agenda, the participants were introduced to the basics of the first psychological assistance in crisis and emergency situations, they got acquainted with the tools for providing step-by-step assistance to the victims and methods of self-help planning. Working in groups of three in role-playing situations, the participants of the seminar had the opportunity to see how the methods developed by Jamie D. Aten and Kent Annan worked. The participants shared their experiences and asked questions.

The moderator of the event, Professor of the Department of Health Sciences, Doctor of Psychological Sciences Olena Yatsyna, on behalf of the participants of the international seminar-workshop, expressed her gratitude to her American colleagues for the opportunity to learn about the methods of working with psychotrauma.

At the end, all the participants were granted their certificates and then lined up for a group photo.
