Transcarpathian military men officially thanked UzhNU for the help to soldiers in the ATO area
The Command of the military unit B 0124 of the 128th independent mountain infantry brigade presented a commendation to UzhNU Rector Professor Volodymyr Smolanka, teaching staff and students, in which they expressed their gratitude for the help of UzhNU to Transcarpathian militarymen who were in the ATO area. "For invaluable assistance in strengthening and establishment of our Armed Forces," - the document says.
The university responded to the needs of soldiers and collected funds for the purchase of medicines that are lacking so much on the territory where military actions take place. In late February, big packages with antiviral, antibacterial drugs and other medical products were dispatched to ATO area. The military men asked the University for help in September last year, when the first groups of soldiers of the Transcarpathian territorial defense battalion were sent to the east of Ukraine. The management of UzhNU took a decision to help the servicemen of the former Transcarpathian territorial defense battalion which was later re-formed into the 128th Brigade.
"The battalion which is now a part of the 128th IMIB was tasked to guard the headquarters of ATO in Kramatorsk after our soldiers had shown their courage in Mariupol and Volnovakha - says Petro Markevych, lecturer of the department of Solid-state Electronics of the Physics Faculty of UzhNU, who participated in the ATO. - This is a very important task, especially now when reconnaissance groups have become more active and the headquarters are one of the most strategic targets for them. Therefore, there is great need for thermal imagers now. They also need parts for the excavator tractor MTZ-82 that helps in building dugouts and preparing defense positions which are currently built manually. There is a lack of strong bags for dugouts and trenches, because the ones bought in the building supermarket are not very long-lasting."
According to Petro Markevych, the military men will be happy to receive any help, because the enemies do not stop displaying hostility despite temporary silence period. Transcarpathians also receive help from Kharkiv and Kyiv. They were supplied with the parts for technical equipment, 5 tons of pellets for heating, boxes for repairing machinery, etc.
The Command of the military unit and UzhNU management agreed on further cooperation to support the Transcarpathians staying in the ATO area and defending the eastern border of our state against the aggressor.
