Today students of UzhNU elected the President of the Student Council
On February 24th students of all faculties expressed their position by voting for the candidate who would protect their interests.
There were seven polling stations at the university, which were open till 5 pm. Students of both day-time and extra-mural department participated in the elections. Of course, foreign students could also vote.
Three candidates for the office of President of the Student Council of UzhNU were registered: a student of the Faculty of History Olexandr Varshava, a future lawyer Yaroslav Marychak and a student of the Faculty of Medicine Serhiy Boyko.
At 12.00 the turnout was as follows:
398 students voted at the polling station of election district #1 (Engineering Faculty, the Faculty of Economics, Humanities and Natural Sciences, Dentistry and International Relations).
At polling station # 2 (the Faculty of Philology, Geography, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Foreign Languages) 618 people voted.
Election district #3 (Faculty of Medicine, History, Healthcare) was visited by 436 students.
231 student voted at polling station #4 (part of the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of International Politics, Management and Business and the Faculty of Information Technologies).
125 people expressed their will at district #5 (Natural Sciences and Humanities College and the Faculty of Tourism and International Communication).
Polling station #6 (the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Postgraduate Education) was attended by 80 voters.
Polling station #7 (the Faculty of Law, Physics and Biology) was attended by 400 students.
There were queues almost at all polling stations. However, in general students were satisfied with the work of election commission members.
The election process was monitored not only by observers. Each polling station was visited by the Vice-rector for Academic Policy and Research Ihor Korol and the Head of the CEC Taras Voytiuk. Mr.Korol emphasized that voting was voluntary, and nobody forced students to participate in voting.
However, some incidents were registered. At some polling stations there were students observed campaigning for certain candidates. This is considered to be a violation
