The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Kvit about the situation around Uzhhorod National University

At a press conference on "Fighting Corruption in education: the most important examples" Serhiy Kvit told about the attempts of ex-heads of universities to return to the positions they held before.

In particular, the minister said: "Another example is the one of Uzhhorod. Just as in the case of National Aviation University, where its ex-head is trying to return to his position through the courts and Cherkasy where Tamara Kachala is trying to get the position back, in Uzhhorod Fedir Vashchuk - ex-rector of Uzhhorod National University, the strongest Transcarpathian University - is trying to do the same... That is, It’s easier to list what violations were not committed there than the ones that were committed. He is cynically trying to get the position back through the court, although he resigned having written a resignation letter on students’ demand during the revolution. His most notorious violation that has been proven and can be mentioned is the fact that he issued fake diplomas of Uzhhorod National University to the students of two universities in the Czech Republic, or to be more precise, he sold them.

 The scandal emerged at the level of the Czech Republic government and one University in Prague and in Pilsen which filed claims to us. These were fake diplomas, in fact, they were not issued by Uzhhorod National University since the information about them was not entered into YEDEBO database. I can give more examples of violations and they were all committed by Fedir Vashchuk. Such people are not afraid of anything and they believe that their time has come again and they can return".
