From now on SRI of ecclesiastical and state law collaborates with the Michalovce and Kosice diocese of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia

The Director of the Research Institute of ecclesiastical and state law and church and state relations, Candidate of Law, Doctor of theology, associate professor of the Department of International Law of UzhNU Archimandrite Yevfrosyn (Oleksandr Bilash) visited Michalovce (Slovakia) being invited by George (Stransky), the Archbishop of Michalovce and Kosice, the manager of Michalovce and Kosice diocese of the Orthodox Church of the Czech lands and Slovakia.

The issues concerning  cooperation and interaction in the field of church and state relations, religious and secular education, ecclesiastical and state law and freedom of conscience in the two border regions were discussed at the meeting in the premises of the Diocesan administration in Michalovce.

By prior arrangement between the SRI of ecclesiastical and state law and church and state relations of UzhNU and Michalovce and Košice diocese of the Orthodox Church of the Czech lands and Slovakia the  cooperation agreement was signed.

Archbishop George also mentioned the mass event "Days of Ukraine" held in Košice in April 2015 and organized by the Transcarpathian Regional Council and Regional State Administration under the Partnership Agreement with the Kosice self-governing region.

Orthodox Church of Czech lands and Slovakia is an autocephalous orthodox church and occupies the 14th place in the diptych of autocephalous churches. Canonical jurisdiction is the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Michalovce and Košice diocese is centered in Michalovce and belongs to the Orthodox Church of Czech lands and Slovakia. Its main cathedral is the Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius. Since 2007 Archbishop George (Stransky) of Michalovce and Kosice has been the manager of the diocese.
