March 15 is a day off on the`occasion of the anniversary of proclaiming the independence of Carpathian Ukraine
Wednesday, March 15 2017 is a day off at UzhNU. The working day will be on Saturday, April 1st, instead. Relevant order has been signed by the acting Vice-Rector of UzhNU Oleksandr Slyvka today.
Wednesday was announced a day off on the recommendation of the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal in connection with the celebration of the 78th anniversary of the proclamation of Carpathian Ukraine independance.
March 15th, 1939 is one of the most important dates in the history of Transcarpathia. This is the day when the Soim (Parliament) of Carpathian Ukraine proclaimed the state independence and adopted the constitution, which defined Ukrainian as the state language, blue and yellow flag as the national flag, the image of a bear with blue and yellow bars and a trident as the coat of arms and "Shche ne vmerla Ukraina” as the anthem.
Thus, all students and staff members of UzhNU will be able to honour the memory of fallen Heroes of Carpathian Ukraine, who gave their lives for freedom and independence of our land on Krasne Pole (the Red Field).
Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!
