Lecturers of UzhNU were trained in Slovakia as part of the international project SIBSU
Academic mobility in modern conditions is an integral part of a teacher's professional activity. International projects, internships, and exchanges of experience are some of the many opportunities that are available to Uzhhorod National University lecturers today thanks to the professional work of the administration, the International Relations Department, and in particular the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and International Cooperation Myroslava Lendel.
One of the large-scale and effective projects in which Uzhhorod National University is a cooperating organization - is the international project "Secure and Inclusive Border between Slovakia and Ukraine" (SIBSU). The aim of the project is to study the prospects for the development of integrated management of the Slovak-Ukrainian border, the impact of the border on the socio-economic development of the border areas. The final stage of the project implementation was the internship of university teachers, associate professors Hanna Melehanych (Department of International Studies and Public Communications), Nadia Kichera and Olha Surnina-Dalekorei (Department of Political Science and Public Administration) at the University of Presov (Presov, Slovak Republic) from March 13 to 17. During the internship period, the researchers were able to get acquainted with the functioning of the Institute of Political Science of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Presov, and participated in the teaching of such disciplines as International Organizations, Cross-Border Cooperation, Cross-Border Cooperation of the Presov Self-Governing Region, and Border Studies.
Equally important for achieving the research objective was to get acquainted with the competencies and activities of the Office of the Presov Self-Governing Region in the field of international/cross-border cooperation (Department of External Relations and Protocol of the Office of the Presov Self-Governing Region; Project Management Department of the Office of the Presov Self-Governing Region Intermediary Body of the Integrated Regional Operational Program of the Presov Self-Governing Region - Project Implementation Department).
The results of the SIBSU project were directly addressed in a public discussion on the possibilities of cross-border cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia, which took place on March 16, 2023, at the University of Presov, with the participation of representatives of the Border and Foreign Police Directorate of the Presidium of the Police Force (Slovakia), the Chop Border Guard Department of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (Ukraine), representatives of the customs services of Slovakia and Ukraine, Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA), Bratislava (Slovakia); Center for Regional Risk Analysis, Uzhhorod (Ukraine), and faculty and students of the Institute of Political Science.
