Uzhhorod University delegation visited Corvallis
In the first decade of June the delegation of Uzhhorod National University headed by the Rector Volodymyr Smolanka visited Corvallis (Oregon, USA) with a working visit.
The most important event of the visit was the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two universities by the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka and the The President of Oregon University Edward Ray. The memorandum provides the development of various forms of international educational and scientific cooperation, student exchanges, research internships, joint research projects, etc. Separate meetings were held with the Dean of Agricultural Sciences Daniel Arp and the Dean of Public Health Tammy Bray, as well as the Laurie Lewis University Director of International Programs. During the meetings the most promising branches and areas of inter-university cooperation have been identified.
The delegation members visited other educational institutions with the purpose of familiarization, including the Ampkua College in Roseburg and Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon.
UzhNU delegation had a meeting with the mayor, deputy sheriff, prosecutor, judges, member of the House of Representatives from Corvallis, Oregon and some others with the purpose of strengthening fraternal relations between the cities and learning the experience of local self-governing bodies, law enforcement, judicial bodies and NGOs of Corvallis.
At the request of the delegation of UzhNU the sculptor Serhiy Mozhnevskyy (Uzhhorod native, now living in Vancouver, Canada) made a sculpture "The Thinker," which was presented by Volodymyr Smolanka to the mayor of Corvallis Biff Traber and the city community as a sign of fraternal relations strengthening. The same sculpture had previously been presented by Serhiy Mozhnevskyy to Uzhhorod National University.
In general, the working visit of UzhNU delegation opened new opportunities of international cooperation in educational and scientific spheres and strengthened fraternal relations between Uzhhorod and Corvallis.
