UzhNU signed cooperation agreement with three Transcarpathian Hungarian-language educational institutions
On Thursday, November 14, 2019, the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka met with the heads of the Hungarian-language educational institutions of the region, particularly, the headmaster of Berehove Gymnasium Arpad Sabov, Uzhhorod Gymnasium Peter Kovacs and Tyachiv Lyceum Pall Ambrus.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Smolanka thanked the guests for their response to the university's proposal to establish cooperation and emphasized that it had to be mutually beneficial. He highly assessed the work of the team of the Ukrainian-Hungarian Educational and Scientific Institute of UzhNU on the training of teachers for the Hungarian-laguage educational institutions of Transcarpathia and invited the graduates of Hungarian gymnasiums to continue their studies in that educational unit of the university.
The headmaster of Berehove Gymnasium Arpad Sabov said, "I am not a big fan of the methods they are usng to reform the secondary education in Ukraine, but I am convinced that the youth of Hungarian nationality must learn and speak Ukrainian well in order to be able to achieve their full potential in the country of their birth. The opportunity to acqure higher education at Uzhhorod National University will help young Hungarians to do this."
At the end of the meeting, the Rector of UzhNU and the headmasters of the lyceum and gymnasiums signed the agreement on cooperation.
The Director of the Ukrainian-Hungarian Educational and Scientific Institute of UzhNU Oleksandr Shpenyk also participated in the meeting.
