The project "Preparing Women for Entrepreneurship in the Time of War" has been launched

The project "Preparing Women for Entrepreneurship in the Time of War" has been launched

On 24 April 2023, at the initiative of the Vice President of the twin cities of Corvallis-Uzhhorod Peter Bober and with the support of the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka, the training project "Preparing Women for Entrepreneurship in Times of War" was launched.

The main target groups of the project are IDP women, unemployed and/or partially employed women, and military wives.

 The training will take place monthly for 3 months. The project will also provide consultations for women who are already running active businesses but need additional information and support in times of war.

The project partners are the Zakarpattia Regional Employment Centre and the Business Support Centre "Diia. Business.Uzhhorod. According to the project's initiator, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Business Administration, Marketing and Management; Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History and International Relations; Deputy Director of the War Law Research Centre at UzhNU; consultant on business process optimisation, project and grant development, member of the NGO "University Business Support Centre "Pro Bono", initiator of the training programme, Viktoriia Bondarenko: "Today, when Ukraine is at war, the development of women's entrepreneurship is an extremely necessary activity for economic growth and job creation. The implementation of such an initiative at UzhNU is an opportunity to partially solve the problems of employment and business climate. The project is designed to provide specialized business skills for women to start and manage a business in times of war."

This project is a continuation of the long-standing successful cooperation of the faculties headed by the deans: Yaroslav Lazur, Doctor of Law, Professor, Faculty of Law; Mykola Palinchak, Doctor of Political Science, Professor; and Vitalii Andreyko, Candidate of History and International Relations, Professor.  The official opening of the project was attended by the initiators, partners, and invited guests: Peter Beaver, Co-Chairman of the Council of the Corvallis-Uzhhorod Sister Cities Association, Victoria Bondarenko, initiator and responsible executor of the project, Vasyl Homonai, Deputy Mayor of Uzhhorod, Elvira Lesyshyn, Head of the Regional Development Office of the Department of Economic and Regional Development of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Lesia Kainer, Head of the Entrepreneur Support Centre Diia. Business in Uzhhorod, Yuriy Fuchyshch, Director of the Transcarpathian Regional Employment Centre, Yaroslav Lazur, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mykola Palinchak, Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, and Vitalii Andreyko, Dean of the Faculty of History and International Relations.

During the opening ceremony, the guests expressed their opinion on the importance of this project in the context of modern times, noting that while a significant number of men are defending the country from the enemy, successful businesswomen will become the engine of our country's economy.
