The Lublin Co-working Initiative Between UzhNU and UMCS – A Platform for International Cooperation

In accordance with the Cooperation Agreement between UzhNU and the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS), with the support of Rectors Prof. Volodymyr Smolanka and Prof. Radosław Dobrowolski, a Ukrainian-Polish coworking event was held in Lublin, Republic of Poland, to develop dual education and double-degree programs.

Professors Yulia Halynska  and Volodymyr Prykhodko (Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Electronics, UzhNU), Mariusz Hoffman (Faculty of Economics, UMCS), Associate Professor Vladyslav Peresoliak (Faculty of Geography, UzhNU), and PhDs Liudmila Teplova (Faculty of Management, Economics, and Business, UzhNU) and Yaroslav Banas (Faculty of Economics, UMCS), the concept and practical components of a dual education project for master’s students in project management and investment development  of local communities were developed and agreed upon; opportunities for training specialists in the circular economy within the framework of the  Erasmus+ program and postgraduate education in cooperation with business entities were explored.

The project initiators took an active part in organizing and running the coworking event:  from the Ukrainian side, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine Ivan Hrytsak and Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, Professor Mykola Palinchak; from the Polish side, UMCS Vice-Rector Professor Zbigniew Pastuszak and Head of the International Student Affairs Office Karolina Sokolinska, M.A.

The participants of the coworking session familiarized themselves with the implementation of the dual education project for bachelor’s degree students in geography, the development of the dual education program in the specialty of tax law advocacy at UMCS and the University of Nancy (France), and the implementation of the ITERREG “Water World” program of the botanical gardens of UzhNU and UMCS.

The Lublin coworking initiative involving faculty members from UzhNU and UMCS is becoming a permanent and effective platform for international academic cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish scholars.
