Intermediate results of UzhNU in the implementation of the project ‘Rethinking Higher Education in a Digital Context while Promoting a Collaborative, Inclusive and Sustainable Framework Based on EU Best Practices and Policy Recommendations’
‘Modernisation of educational programmes in the digital context and introduction of inclusive and green competences based on best practices and EU policy recommendations at UzhNU’ was one of the key topics for discussion at the scientific and practical seminar ‘Integration of Sustainable Development Goals into the educational process of UzhNU’ as part of the ‘Week of Action and Awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals’, which was announced by the Global Coalition of Universities in partnership with the State University of New York.
The interdisciplinary seminar was held at Uzhhorod National University in March 2025 and provided an opportunity to discuss the main aspects of acquiring relevant competencies for students of different educational levels in the context of best practices for integrating the concept of sustainable development into curricula and the need for ‘sustainable and inclusive digital transformation’.
Thus, the head of the expert group from UzhNU, Associate Professor Vitalii Andreyko, in the project ‘Rethinking Higher Education in the Digital Context while Promoting a Collaborative, Inclusive and Sustainable Framework Based on EU Best Practices and Policy Recommendations’ (RE-DIRECTION) funded under the Erasmus+ CBC2 programme, informed the audience that the project aims to rethink higher education by reforming curricula in Ukraine and Georgia in line with EU best practices. The project focuses on strengthening digital skills, green competences and inclusiveness, as well as on solving connectivity problems in remote areas.
Vitalii Andreyko informed the audience about the progress of the modernisation of educational programmes at the Faculty of History and International Relations. He also spoke about how experts have developed a methodological framework that integrates digital, green and inclusive competencies into the higher education system.
The previous year, experts from UzhNU and a number of other partner universities from Ukraine and Georgia conducted a study to identify and address critical gaps and challenges in pedagogical methods in the areas of digital transformation, sustainability and inclusiveness in higher education institutions in Georgia and Ukraine. At the same time, experts from European partners, including the International University of Karlschöhele (Germany), prepared a collection of best practices on pedagogical methods for promoting inclusion in European universities.
An important element of this project is also end-to-end communication with higher education stakeholders, i.e. individuals and legal entities that have a legitimate interest in the university's educational activities, i.e. depend on them to some extent or can influence them. It is also worth noting here that in recent years UzhNU has been working with stakeholders at both the local and national levels on a regular basis.
