Biology students are successfully passing midyear session
Winter is a “hot” period for students of Uzhhorod National University, because they have to forget about celebrating winter holidays and start preparing for the examination session. We decided to visit one of the leading faculties of the university - the Faculty of Biology – and talk to its dean.
The hallways are crowded from the very morning, students and teachers are rushing to the classrooms. Those who studied hard during the whole semester have just come to get records in their credit-books; others are revising the material before the arrival of their teachers and sharing thoughts with their fellow students.
The dean of the faculty Yaroslava Hasynets says that students began to prepare for their examinations in December, when they had lectures and seminars. Today is the period of taking midyear credit-tests and exams. "Students of the Faculty of Biology, like all other students, grow mentally stronger by the time of getting their bachelor's degrees, and we can observe constant dynamics as in the first and the second year of study they learn the basics which help them to improve their scores. Having the fundamental knowledge, students get adapted by the third or fourth year of study, respectively, reach the professional level, and solidify their knowledge by writing their bachelor's and graduation theses." says Ms Hasynets..
She is convinced that the faculty traditionally trains good specialists. Most students come from the countryside; therefore all the faculty members do their best to help students adapt quickly to new way of studying and teaching methodology.
"Of course, all students are different. Some study very well, some have an average level, and those who lag behind, are expelled long before obtaining a diploma. However, it should be noted that faculty teachers make a lot of effort to help the students lagging behind after working hours. This midyer session is not an exception, of course, and there are such students who failed some exams. However, they have three official opportunities to retake their exams and tests. and we always try to understand all life circumstances which might cause exam failures. I am convinced that we will manage to preserve the number of most our students and graduates," said the dean of the Faculty of Biology Yaroslava Hasynets .
Yaroslava Hasynets is conducting an excursion to show that the life of the faculty is in full swing. For instance, the students doing their master’s have successfully defended their theses before the honorable examination commission today.
