Financiers of UzhNU attended VIII International expert tour «Free Market Road Show - 2015"

On May 12, a conference "How to ensure growth" was held within the VIII Annual International Discussion «Free Market Road Show-2015" in Kyiv with the support of All-Ukrainian public organization "Taxpayers Association of Ukraine". It brought together leading experts in the areas of economics, finance and tax law, representatives of diplomatic missions, scientists, public figures and students.

The event was attended by the scientists of Uzhhorod National University - Associate Professors of the Department of Finance and Banking Tetyana Buturlakina and Volodymyr Vysochanskyy.

This year's Tour of the free market «Free Market Road Show» was traditionally held by the Austrian Economics Center and the Hayek Institute in collaboration with more than 60 leading research centers and universities across Europe.

Among the international and local partners of the Tour-2015 in Ukraine there are such organizations as the Liberty Fund, Global Philanthropic Trust, European Students for Liberty, Ruefa and the F.A. v. Hayek Institute, Institute of Economics and Forecasting of NAS of Ukraine and the Commercial Law Center.

Media partners of the conference held in Kyiv are Inter Media Group, Ukrainian crisis media-center, National News Agency "Ukrinform" and News Agency "Ukrainian News".

The tour lasts from April, 13  till May, 27 covering 35 cities of Europe and the Caucasus. The event was held in the form of two discussion panels: "Breakthrough or decline? Reforms in the country during the war" and "Tax liberalization in terms of fiscal constraints". During the conference Ukrainian and foreign experts, including former Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oleksandr Shlapak, the founder of Geopolitical Information Service Prince Michael von Liechtenstein, CEO of John Chisholm Ventures (the USA) John Chisholm, Director of Austrian Economics Center Barbara Kolm, an expert of the Civil Initiative "Resuscitation reform package", an economist of CASE Ukraine Volodymyr Dubrovskyy, MP of Ukraine, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee for Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship Viktor Halasyuk discussed ways of reforming Ukraine's economy and possible results of the reforms declared by the government, tried to find ways of overcoming systemic crisis.

So the columnist of the Wall Street Journal (the USA) John Fund and Honorary President of the Fraser Institute Michael Walker stressed that many Ukrainian had a false judgment of the issue of international credits and reform conditions: the loan is given to carry out needed reforms, owing to which there will be improvement in one area or another, and not vice versa. It’s categorically wrong to assume that reforms are carried out to get the next tranche. It’s not good to justify oneself, because the main resources are human potential, creativity and desire to make changes for the better.

As a result, panelists named the biggest enemies of reforms in Ukraine. These are corruption, energy dependence, debt, lack of dialogue with the public, etc. In general, participants agreed that the most important task for Ukraine was the establishment of the rule of law, elimination of corruption and maximum simplification of the tax system, the effectiveness of which will be achieved through transparency and clarity. Creativity in solving problems, freedom of each individual, mutual respect and partner relations between society, government and business are the key to sustainable development and overcoming the financial crisis.
