Congratulations to the research team for winning the DAAD competition “SDG-Partnerships 2024-2027”
Within the framework of DAAD “SDG-Partnerships 2024-2027”, an international project «Sustainable Optical Materials and Modules: Education and Research Infrastructure (SOMMER!)».
Project leaders from UzhNU: Associate Professor O. Gomonnai and Doctor of Philosophy T. Babuka.
It is worth noting that for the implementation of this project, namely the conduct of master classes, the UzhNU team involved scientists from the Institute of Electronic Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Prof. O. Gomonnai and Leading Researcher Y. Azhniuk.
The project will include the organisation of quarterly scientific seminars and summer schools for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students in optics/spectroscopy and semiconductor/solid state physics. These events will help undergraduate and postgraduate students to deepen their knowledge of the latest optical technologies and materials. In addition, they will allow undergraduate and graduate students to integrate into international activities and be better prepared for further professional research careers in the academic systems of Ukraine and Germany. One of the goals of the project is to encourage students to conduct research, to take advantage of academic mobility, to participate in international conferences and seminars, and to obtain qualifications at a level relevant for professional activities in the European and global scientific community.
The main outcome of the project will be the creation of an inter-university research and training cluster SOMMER! (Sustainable Optical Materials and Modules: Education and Research Infrastructure) as a synergy of education at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels with a focus on the physics of modern nanomaterials for sustainable applications. Their applications include next-generation photovoltaics, light-emitting devices, photodetectors and sensors. The cluster will include the Technical University of Chemnitz. Chemnitz, two Ukrainian universities, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Uzhhorod National University, and the Institute of Semiconductor Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The Research Department congratulates the scientists and wishes them creative inspiration, fruitful cooperation and further success in the scientific field!
