The Faculty of Information Technologies dates back to 1 September 1996, when the first 20 students began their studies. Today, there are about 500 students enrolled in full-time and extramural forms of study at the Faculty of Information Technologies. This rate demonstrates the good status of the department - the number of applicants who are interested in studying at the faculty is constantly growing. For example, here are the recent tendencies. While in 2015-2016, 62 former schoolchildren were accepted to the first year of the full-time department, a year later 74 students were accepted to the first year, and in 2017-2018, 82 people were accepted. Taking into account those who are interested in studying at the extramural department and graduates of the College of Natural Sciences and Humanities of Uzhhorod National University, who wished to continue their education at the Faculty of Information Technologies, 115 new students were enrolled in 2015-2016, 120 in 2016-2017, and 124 in 2017-2018. In the 2018-2019 academic year, 170 applicants entered the faculty. Moreover, the number of contract students exceeded the number of those who study at the expense of the state budget. That is, the faculty is becoming more attractive and profitable from year to year.

The Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Doctor of Technical Sciences, Full Professor Oleksandr Anatoliiovych Pavlov, provided great assistance in the development of the Faculty of Information Technology.

In the first years of the faculty's existence, he taught important special courses for IT students. The curricula and study programmes of the Faculty of Information Technologies are based on the appropriate curricula and programmes of the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science of the National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". Nowadays, the highly respected professor Pavlov O.A. supports active relations with the faculty, to the creation of which he is directly related: he is repeatedly invited as the chairman of the SEC of the Faculty of Information Technologies. 

A great role in the formation of the Faculty of Information Technologies was also played by its deans: Doctor of Technical Sciences, Full  Professor Y. Vasylenko (1996-2000), Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (Ph.D), Associate Professor S. Polyak (2000-2003), Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (Ph.D) , Associate Professor V. Bunda (September-December 2003), Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (Ph.D), Associate Professor O. Laver (2003-2006), Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (Ph.D), Associate Professor S. Bunda (2006-2010), Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (Ph.D), Associate Professor Y. Bilak (2010-2011). Currently, the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies is Candidate of Technical Sciences (Ph.D), Associate Professor I. Povkhan.

     The educational process of the Faculty of Information Technologies of Uzhhorod National University is provided by three departments:

- The Department of Informative and Operating Systems and Technologies - graduating department, Head of the Department – Docent Mitsa O.V., Excellence in Education of Ukraine

- The Department of Software Systems - graduating department, Head of the Department – Docent Bilak Y.Y;

- The Department of Information Science and Physics and Mathematics Disciplines - graduating Department, Head of the Department - Candidate of Technical Sciences (Ph.D.) Docent, Kut V.I.

There are more than 100 computerized workplaces.

The Faculty of Information Technologies of Uzhhorod National University trains specialists in the following specialties:

 121 - Software Engineering (bachelor's and master's degrees);

122 - Computer Science and Information Technology (Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D.), with two specializations at the bachelor's level - Computer Science and Informatics;

126 - Information Systems and Technologies - opened in the 2018-2019 academic year.

A significant feature of the faculty is that there work a lot of young lecturers (35-40 years old). At the same time, older lecturers generously share their experiences with younger colleagues.

Without exaggeration, many of the faculty members can be called its flagships. First of all, they are:

1. Mitsa Volodymyr Mykhailovych - Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine, External Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences;
2. Zavilopulo Anatolii Mykolaiovych - Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine;
3. Laver Oleksandr Heorhiiovych, Mitsa OleksandrVolodymyrovych, Klyap Marianna Ivanivna – Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors, Honored Educators of Ukraine.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, the Faculty of Information Technology employed 40 teachers, including 5 Doctors of Sciences (12.5% of the total), 23 Candidates of Sciences (57.5%), and 12 assistants and senior lecturers (30%).

The staff of the Faculty of Information Technologies is characterized by great diligence in scientific and educational work. Overall 22 monographs, 11 textbooks with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and 92 educational and methodological manuals and materials were published by its lecturers. Several hundred scientific articles in scientific and metric databases. Thus, since 2012, the following monographs of the faculty have been published:
