Scholarly Institute of Ecclesiastical Law, State and Church Relations
For the purpose of coordination and development of scientific research activities in the field of higher education and state-church relations, promotion of scientific activity in the fields of state ecclesiastical and canonical law, comparative jurisprudence, scientific research in interdisciplinary areas of law, the board of the Institute together with a group of famous legal scholars registrated the public organization "Ukrainian Association of Ecclesiastical and Canon Law".
Ukrainian Association of Ecclesiastical and Canon Law is a non-profit public organization with the right of a legal entity and carries out its activities in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.
According to the Charter, the goals of the Association are:
- consolidation of the intellectual potential of scientific workers of research institutions and academic staff of legal educational institutions, spiritual educational institutions and the organization of scientific research activities in the field of studying state ecclesiastical and canonical law in Ukraine;
- gathering, generalization and dissemination of legal information, formation of legal awareness of citizens, development of legal education;
- creation of conditions for high-quality education of students, youth and improvement of scientific qualifications of professors;
- creation of an united information field of communication for scientists, professors, students, youth in the fields of state ecclesiastical and canonical law;
- promotion of state-church dialogue, unity in the field of scientific and educational activities, spiritual and moral enlightenment;
- strengthening and development of the union of religion, culture and science - as the most important principle of Ukrainian social thought.
The Association carries out such types of activities aimed at achieving the goals of its creation as:
- creation, organization and financing of programs and projects related to the development of ecclesiastical and canonical law;
- preparation and coordination of conferences, symposiums, seminars;
- conducting scientific research and expertise in the field of state ecclesiastical and canonical law;
- assistance in the organization of training and retraining of specialists in the fields of state ecclesiastical and canon law in Ukraine and abroad;
- promotion of human rights ideas;
- provision of highly qualified legal, economic, organizational and other assistance to members of the Association - both through the protection of interests in courts and in the form of consultations, advice, etc.;
- protection of intellectual property and copyright of members of the Association;
- research and generalization of the mechanisms of implementation of acts of legislation in the field of ecclesiastical law;
- participation as independent experts in making decisions of state authorities in the sphere of state-church relations;
- assistance in establishing relations with domestic and foreign associations, organizations, and others in order to attract them to participate in the programs of the Association for the Development of State ecclesiastical and Canonical Law, spiritual traditions of domestic culture and history;
- organization of relations with foreign partners;
- creation and implementation of computer information networks of the Association and their integration into global networks;
- organization of business trips to foreign countries;
- promotion of studying and internship abroad of academic staff, establishment of business relations with similar associations and unions in Ukraine and abroad
- organization of tourist trips of youth and students around Ukraine and abroad;
- establishment of mass media in accordance with the procedure established by law;
- organization and holding in accordance with the goals of the Association seminars, conferences, congresses, symposia in Ukraine and other countries;
- editorial and publishing activities that ensure the realization of scientific and social tasks set before the Association;
- dissemination of information about the Association's activities;
- other types of activities related to the statutory activities of the Association, which do not contradict the current legislation of Ukraine.
Prof. DDr. Oleksandr Bilash, J.C.L., LL.M., Director of Scholarly Institute of Ecclesiastical Law, State and Church Relations was elected as the President of the Ukrainian Association of Ecclesiastical and Canon Law by Constituent meeting of the founders of Association.
