UzhNU hosts the XVI Congress of the Ukrainian Association of European Studies
On Thursday, 17 October, the XVI Congress of the Ukrainian Association of European Studies began its work. The main theme of the event is Ukraine's accession to the EU and the reconstruction of the country after the war. The congress is initiated and organised by the Ukrainian Association of European Studies, with the support of the UzhNU Rectorate and the Educational and Research Institute of European Integration Studies of UzhNU.
The event was opened by the Vice-Rector of UzhNU Myroslava Lendiel: ‘In 2005, I became the first scholar at UzhNU to win a Jean Monnet module. These were the first years of the programme's implementation at our university. At that time, I started teaching a course for political science students, in which I told the students that perhaps one day, in a few decades, Ukraine would start negotiations on joining the EU. During this period, I was offered to create a branch of the Ukrainian Association of European Studies in Zakarpattia. In 2019, this work was continued by Professor Ihor Todorov, and now this activity is successfully carried out by the current director of the Institute of European Integration Studies of UzhNU Petro Tokar. So for me, this experience is very important and interesting. I remember how the association was created, where it started, and how important it is for the policy of Ukraine's accession to the EU today.’
Uzhhorod Zsuzsanna Baracsi, Director of the Department of Economics and Regional Development of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Taras Tryndiak, President of the International Foundation for Educational Policy Research, Professor of the University of Warsaw Taras Finikov, and President of the UAES Oksana Holovko-Gavrysheva.
