UzhNU has been included in the World University Rankings 2025 for the second time and ranks among the 17 best universities in Ukraine

Yesterday, the influential British agency and Times Higher Education published the World University Rankings 2025. Uzhhorod National University is on the honourable 1501st place among the best universities in the world and is one of the best Ukrainian universities. The methodology of The World University Rankings 2025 is based on the analysis of data on the number of students and teaching staff, institutional and industrial income, teaching and research reputation. The ranking is based on a new methodology that includes 18 indicators that measure the activities of universities in five areas: teaching (29.5%), research environment (29%), research quality (30%), cooperation with industry (4%), and internationalisation (7.5%).

UzhNU once again takes the highest position in the section ‘International perspectives’. This year, we are among the top three Ukrainian universities in this indicator. The university also received high scores in the section ‘Education’. We also managed to improve our scores in three indicators, namely the research environment, research quality and cooperation with industry.

Over the past year, the ranking has been significantly expanded with new universities, with the number of universities from 115 countries increasing from 1910 to 2095, and the number of Ukrainian universities increasing from 14 to 17. In addition to the 2095 ranked institutions, another 765 universities have the status of ‘reporter’, which means that the data they provide does not meet the eligibility criteria for the ranking. Among them are 38 Ukrainian institutions.

THE WUR ranking is one of the three most influential in the world, so it is an honour for any university to be included in it. It is important to note that Times Higher Education annually analyses the activities of more than 2000 universities from more than 90 countries. According to the latest estimates, there are about 25,000 higher education institutions in the world, but only the best meet the criteria for inclusion in such a prestigious ranking.
