"Students' Spring 2023" has found the most talented Uzhhorod students

On Thursday, 4 May, Uzhhorod National University hosted the loudest talent show of the year, Student Spring 2023. The students came together to prove once again that Uzhhorod residents are not only educated, intellectually savvy, defend scientific projects and create innovative start-ups, but are also incredibly talented, creative and have outstanding vocal and dancing skills.

The competition was organised by the UzhNU Students' Trade Union, the UzhNU Student Council and Uzhhorod National University. The talent show was supported by sponsors: "Association of Information Technology Development", "Trinity Secret room", "Chili Pizza", "PUB HOUSE", "Fanboys shop" and "Krayina rukodillya". The host of the evening was Dmytro Ihnatyshch.

The event was opened by the Rector of UzhNU, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka: "It is very pleasant to see a full hall of happy, cheerful faces of our students. I congratulate you on the holiday, which marks not only the joy of learning, but also the joy of leisure and the joy of spring. The weather is beautiful outside, spring is blooming and today's holiday fits perfectly into this context. Thank you from the whole university for being so talented, cool and driven."

Students competed in three nominations: "Video Presentation," "Vocal genre and Dance genre. They were judged by five highly qualified jury members: Myroslava Tekel, owner and director of the Majestik dance school, Inga Bohovska, head of the First Step music studio, and Valentyna Zelinka, associate professor of the Department of Musical Art at the Academy of Culture and Art of the Zakarpattia Regional Council, Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Yelyzaveta Babyak, lecturer at the Department of Art Disciplines, Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Natalia Oreshnikova, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, chief director of the puppet theatre, lecturer at the Department of Art Disciplines.

Importantly, the evening was a charity event. A donation box was placed in the hall, where everyone could donate money to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, a secret gift and a gold card were drawn for the largest donation to the Armed Forces during the faculties' speeches. The prize was won by a student of the Law Faculty who wished to remain anonymous. In total, more than UAH 20 thousand was raised. The organisers will donate the entire amount raised to the needs of our defenders.

The students surprised with their talents and performed like true professionals. They sang solos, in duets, trios and real rock bands, performed songs in Ukrainian and English. They danced in various genres with elements of contemporary, rhythmic gymnastics, and LED elements. And the judges were very strict. Each member of the jury rated the performances on a 10-point scale. In the end, all the points were summed up in a rating table. The team that scored the most points in all genres won. And now it was time to sum up the results.

The awards were presented by the Vice-Rector, Professor Igor Korol: "Today I received great pleasure from the performances I saw. I think we made the right decision to move the competition from autumn to spring. Because the period when sakura trees are still in bloom and chestnuts have already blossomed is the best time to express your emotions, feelings and show your talents. These emotions were sincere, and this hall has never seen anything like it. I would like to thank the Trade Union, the Student Council, the Centre for Humanitarian and Educational Work, Career Guidance and Employment of UzhNU and, of course, everyone who performed tonight and everyone who supported us for organising the event. Thanks to you, this evening really took place and was held at a high level."
