Rector Volodymyr Smolanka's greetings on the occasion of Europe Day
Dear colleagues!
Today we celebrate the 74th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, which marked the beginning of the European Union. Since then, the EU has evolved from an economic union to a political community based on the common values of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
For Ukraine, Europe Day is of particular importance. It is a celebration of our European identity and a symbol of our aspiration for EU membership. We sincerely believe that in the near future Ukraine will become part of the European family, as the European vector of development is a guarantee of our independence, social justice and rapid development of science and culture.
This year, we are celebrating Europe Day amidst the brutal war that Russia has unleashed against our country. But I believe that thanks to the unity and resilience of the Ukrainian people, as well as the support of our European partners, we will win and build a free, democratic and prosperous future for our country.
May the Europe Day inspire us to new achievements, to unite and work together for a better future for Ukraine and the whole of Europe!
