Medical Faculty No. 2 – modern education for future professionals
Medical Faculty No. 2 is a unique department of Uzhhorod National University, established in 2016 to train foreign students in the field of medicine. Teaching is conducted in English, and students come from almost 30 countries around the world. Despite the war in the country, Uzhhorod is the westernmost regional centre bordering Europe, so it's still one of the safest cities. So, the department is growing fast, and its graduates are making UzhNU famous around the world. The dean, Doctor of Medical Sciences Vasyl Kaliy, talks about the features of studying at Medical Faculty No. 2.
– Please tell us about the specialisation that can be obtained at Medical Faculty No. 2?
– At Medical Faculty No. 2, we traditionally train masters in the specialisation 222 ‘Medicine’. We all understand that the medical profession is always in demand and enjoys high social status in any civilised country, ensuring a predictable and successful future for young people who choose medicine as their life's work.
– What employment opportunities are available to your graduates?
– Students of the Medical Faculty No. 2 study exclusively in English, and it is pleasant to note that we already have positive experience in training not only foreign citizens, but also domestic applicants who plan to work abroad in the future, because studying medicine in English greatly facilitates the process of confirming a diploma and starting practical work in most countries of the world. Therefore, I am convinced that this trend will only continue to grow. In general, our graduates work in completely different medical institutions around the world, some return home, and some find opportunities to realise their potential in Europe and the United States. We are proud that we already have so many examples of their professional achievements.
– What other features, apart from studying in English, await applicants to Medical Faculty No. 2?
– It should also be noted that during the pandemic and full-scale war, we were forced to introduce the possibility of distance learning. Thanks in part to the help of colleagues from the UK, we have extensive experience in this area, using the latest technologies that have no analogues in Ukraine.
So today, we offer both foreign students and Ukrainian citizens the opportunity to obtain a master's degree in medicine with a choice of study format that suits the student.
