The VI annual students’ conference took place at Medical Faculty №2
On May 15, the VI annual students’ conference took place at Medical Faculty №2. Alongside local learners, students from the International Faculty of Poltava State Medical University presented their scientific works.

Throughout the event, students presented research across a wide range of clinical and theoretical disciplines. A significant portion of the reports focused on cardiometabolic disorders, specifically addressing obesity, hepatic steatosis in adolescents and young adults, and metabolic risks for Type 2 Diabetes. Lively discussions were sparked by studies in surgery, which reviewed trocar-assisted laparoscopic techniques for ventral hernia repair and the diagnostic accuracy of the Alvarado score in acute appendicitis. Infectious diseases and clinical immunology were also well-covered, including the early diagnosis of toxoplasmosis in HIV patients , risk factors for bronchial asthma , alongside compelling clinical cases of systemic-onset juvenile idiopathic arthritis, cutaneous mastocytosis, and histamine intolerance.

A distinct and powerful segment featured innovative research on the role of artificial intelligence in medicine (for emergency department triage and early detection of Autism Spectrum Disorder). Furthermore, presenters addressed highly relevant issues regarding mental health and medical education, including anxiety and depression levels, social media addiction among international students, NSAID self-medication practices, and strategies for overcoming language and psychological barriers in medical training.
