The Open Doors Days have been held at Uzhhorod National University
During 13-15 May, applicants had the opportunity to visit the faculties, institutes and college of UzhNU, to get acquainted in detail with the specialities they are interested in, talk to teachers and representatives of the students and, most importantly, to take the first step towards a conscious choice of their future.
The Faculty of International Economic Relations was one of the first to open its doors to applicants. The students had the opportunity to meet with the heads of the departments and learn about the specifics of studying at each of them. In the end, the applicants met with the Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations Mykola Palinchak, Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations.
The Open Doors Day at the College of Natural Sciences and Humanities was attended by pupils of schools No. 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, as well as future applicants from Perechyn and Lintsi lyceums, and even from Tyachiv. We talked to the guests and presented the college, Svitlana Kovalenko, Acting Deputy Director for Svitlana Kachur and representatives of the educational departments spoke to the guests about their prospects after graduation. Students told potential applicants about the specialities and shared their impressions of their studies.
At the Faculty of Tourism and International Communications, applicants had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating world of tourism, meet the management team of the department's management, material and technical base, specialities, international practices and, in general, the educational opportunities and prospects of educational programmes.
On 15 May, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics Vitalii Serzhanov, Dean of the School of Economics. He told the students about the history of the department and the following specialities are taught here: ‘Finance and Credit, Customs and Valuation, Accounting, Audit and Taxation, Business Economics, Logistics, ‘Human Resources Management and Labour Economics, and International Commerce. He also spoke about learning formats, cooperation with regional enterprises and student mobility.
At the Faculty of Social Sciences, the schoolchildren were met by Dean Yurii Ostapets and Deputy Dean for Educational Work Volodymyr Hyria. They presented general information about the faculty and specialities, and the work of student self-government, the trade union bureau and the scientific society of the FSS, demonstrating the wide range of opportunities for self-realisation outside the academic process. By using the Mentimeter service, the students collected students' opinions and expectations from their future studies.
Representatives of the faculty assured that the most interesting proposals of the applicants will be taken into account and implemented. About 30 students visited the Faculty of Information Technology. The young people were greeted by Dean of the subdivision Ihor Povkhan, who told the guests about the history of the faculty, departments, educational process, cooperation with IT companies, opportunities and prospects, that are open to students and graduates.
The Open Doors Day at the Faculty of History and International Relations brought together more than 65 students from different districts of the Zakarpattia region. The event began with a general acquaintance with the Faculty, where the guests were greeted by the Deputy Deans, Viktoriia Bondarenko and Mykhailo Shelemba, the Deputy Deans.
They told the participants about the organisation of the educational process, opportunities for personal development, educational work, as well as international academic exchange programmes. Over 100 pupils from the following schools visited the Faculty of Biology of UzhNU during two days lyceums No. 12 and 15 of Uzhhorod City Council, as well as Bilky Lyceum of Irshava District Council.
The students received detailed information about the available majors, learned about the educational process and internships, employment prospects, organisation of students' leisure and everyday life. The Faculty of Philology approached the organisation of the event with enthusiasm and responsibility. At the beginning of the event, the Head of the Faculty, Professor Yurii Bidzilia, the Head of the Faculty, was invited to make a welcoming speech. After the official part, the applicants were given a tour of the Faculty.
Uzhhorod National University is not saying goodbye to the schoolchildren, but is looking forward to welcoming them in September as freshmen.
