Students of UzhNU started an internship at the Uzhhorod City Council

Starting today, UzhNU students will begin an internship at Uzhhorod City Council that will last three weeks. During the orientation meeting, the organisers of the internship from the city council and the university explained the essence of the initiative and what awaits the young people.

Myroslava Lendel, Vice-Rector of UzhNU, said that the university and the city council have been organising such internships since 2017, when they signed a memorandum of cooperation. Later, the world was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then a full-scale war began.

"Now the newly appointed Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi insists on full-time education wherever possible. And we, as the most rearward city in the country, are bringing back student internships that were in place before the Covid," says Myroslava Lendiel. So we understand that the most motivated people are here. Your motivation is to gain practical skills, but it is also an opportunity to bring new ideas for the benefit of the city. This is your opportunity to feel like active Uzhhorod residents. And in 3 weeks, you will return to school with new knowledge and skills."

Vasyl Homonay, Deputy Mayor, noted that Uzhhorod University is the largest taxpayer in the city, so cooperation with the university is a reason to be proud.

"Uzhhorod is fortunate to have its own national university, thanks to which the city lives an active life. We have already had students of the Faculty of Information Technology do their internships here, and they have implemented their knowledge of web technologies and improved the video surveillance system. And the city did not have to pay for it from the budget. That is why we will assign you to departments that are relevant to your professional fields, so that you can acquire relevant knowledge and skills here, and not just sign a piece of paper about your internship."

The inspirer of the internship, Director of the Centre for Innovation and Development Alyona Almashiy, in her address to the students said: "My idea is to transform your theoretical knowledge into practical skills. Get the most out of your internship, use the opportunity to become real professionals in your speciality."

The law students, representatives of the Faculties of Social Sciences, History and International Relations, were assigned to various departments, including the Department for Work with Deputies and Standing Commissions, Documentary and Organisational Support, State Voter Register, Land Use, State Registration of Real Property Rights and Encumbrances, State Registration of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs, and Social Policy. The students will also have internships at the Administrative Services Centre, the Economic and Operational Department, the Service for Children, the Department of International Cooperation and Innovation, the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Civil Protection, the Department of Youth and Sports, the Department of Software and Computer Software, and the Department of Economic Development. During the internship, they will get acquainted with the departments and their functions, see the electronic document management system, have excursions, etc. On 12 May, they will gather to discuss their experience and take part in a town hall meeting.

Vasyl Homonay announced that the most diligent trainees will be included in the personnel reserve of Uzhhorod City Council and will receive the first references for future employment.
