24 positions up: UzhNU is among the most transparent universities of Ukraine

Uzhhorod National University rose immediately by 24 positions (from 42 to 18) compared to last year in the transparency ranking of national universities compiled by the CEDOS Analytical Centre.  With the support of the International Renaissance Foundation, the Centre monitored 96 institutions of higher education with the status of national where the total number of students exceeded 800 thousand.

Transparency ranking of universities is one of the mechanisms of guaranteeing quality of higher education. It displays the extent to which the universities are willing to be open and informs students, teachers and the general public about their policies. Monitoring results display how openly universities publish information on their educational programs, financial and administrative aspects as well as strategic planning on their websites. Transparency index is composed of several indicators including financial transparency, administration, educational courses content and university development plans.

The latest monitoring of national universities transparency in Ukraine lasted for a year. According to its results Uzhhorod National University rose immediately by 24 positions (from 42 to 18) compared to May, 2014. "I think that the dynamics is good, nevertheless we are planning to improve the transparency level of our work. This is one of the priorities in our activities. We work openly and fairly, guarantee free access to all kinds of information on the activities of the university. Thus, professional journalists, students of the department of journalism, authorized employees of all faculties and departments daily update the contents of the official website of the university and the media center of UzhNU. I would also like to note that the university administration representatives are open to students, the public and the media", - said the Rector of UzhNU, MD, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka about the achievements of the university.

"It is worth reminding that Uzhhorod National University improved its position by more than 10 places in the consolidated ranking of Ukrainian universities in 2015 and ranked the 30th among 286 higher educational institutions for the first time in history. I am confident that this is only the beginning of our movement forward. Thank you for paying attention to rankings, the position of UzhNU in them and high evaluation of our university "- says the Rector.
