The possibility of introducing scientific competitions was discussed as part of the TEMPUS project

Recently a coordination meeting under the TEMPUS project “Fostering the knowledge triangle in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova – FKTBUM” was held at UzhNU administration building.  The prospects of the project implementation, the results of training and the importance of introducing scientific competitions for young researchers and students were discussed.

University Rector Volodymyr Smolanka noted the importance of the development of science and research at the university and involvement of the greatest possible number of students in research activity.

Vice-Rector for Research Ihor Studeniak shared his impressions of the training - a recent trip to the University of Paderborn (Germany) which is a project partner: "We attended the university where 20,000 students are being trained at 6 faculties mostly associated with information technologies. We also found interesting the experience of Germany in the field of dual education - the education system allowing students to combine study and work. It means that two institutions (university/college and enterprise) are involved in the training of young specialists. The academic process is organized so that initially university students get basic theoretical knowledge and then they undergo practical training at the enterprise, which  previously signed a cooperation agreement with the university, and do the work related to the chosen profession. I addition, they are paid for their work.

We were shown an excellent science park and familiarized with the procedure of creating students’ startups. This is a very important experience for us, because we are trying to implement such projects in our universities and encourage our students to realize their ideas and developments".
