Teachers and students of UzhNU took part in an event within the ShowUp4Health project
On 31 May, a bright and meaningful event took place in the heart of the city, on Teatral”na Square. It was an event within the ShowUp4Health project aimed at promoting the idea of evidence-based prevention and screening among Uzhhorod residents.
Teachers from the Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care of Medical Faculty No. 2 and foreign students studying at the Medical Faculty of UzhNU were involved in the campaign.

It was not just an information campaign — it was a lively meeting between doctors and the community, where everyone could learn how healthcare can be modern, personalised and effective. Instead of outdated, standardised ‘check-ups,’ which have lost their relevance in countries with developed healthcare systems, we talked about personalised preventive planning, taking into account the age, gender, heredity and lifestyle of each individual. This can be done by completing a short CheckMe questionnaire, which allows you to plan your own disease prevention programme.
The dermatological screening location attracted particular interest from passers-by — specialists conducted over 400 skin examinations in one day, and two people were diagnosed with cancerous growths requiring further treatment. This is a clear confirmation of how important it is to pay attention to your health in a timely manner.

The project team worked cohesively, professionally and sincerely — it was clear that each of the doctors present had come not to ‘run a campaign’ but to genuinely be there for people. The atmosphere was friendly, open and inspiring — passers-by stopped, asked questions, shared their stories and invited their relatives.
This day proved that evidence-based prevention is not an abstract idea, but a real tool for caring about life. We are grateful to everyone who participated — the organisers, doctors, volunteers and, of course, the residents of Uzhhorod who came and showed their interest and trust.
There is more to come. And we are happy to move forward — together.
