Project goal:
The goal of the project is to popularize innovative solutions in Ukrainian and Polish society and to implement a number of pilot measures on adaptation to climate change, to create conditions for cross-border cooperation and training of personnel through the creation of scientific and educational Centers for adaptation to climate change on the basis of the Botanical Gardens of Uzhhorod National University (UzhNU) and Maria CurieSkłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin.
The proposed project a priori corresponds to the principle of sustainable development. The project is aimed at mitigating the impact of extreme weather events in the urban environment caused by climate change through the implementation of climate change adaptation measures.
Expected results of the project:
- Co-developed adaptations to climate change in urban environments
- Catalogs of the best climate solutions for cities and for private households
- Educational center for children and youth on the basis of botanical gardens of Ugorod National University and Maria Skłodowska Curie University in Lublin for the implementation of out-of-school climate education
The main aims of the project:
1. Implement pilot measures for adaptation to climate change on the basis of botanic gardens of Ukrainian and Polish universities and test their effectiveness in an urban environment.
2. On the basis of Ukrainian and Polish universities, create educational centers on adaptation to climate change, where specialists will be trained to work in municipalities and work with schoolchildren ("green class", educational program for master’s)
3. Promote the best practices for adapting to climate change in the urban environment through an information campaign and project information products (website, videos, catalogs of best solutions).
