Description of the integrated certificate program:

"Roma studies at UzhNU"

Number of hours: 660 hours. (22 credits)

Skills and abilities that the student will receive after completing the program:

Study of the ethnogenesis, history, cultural heritage, ethnographic characteristics, social stratification, and specific socio-political movements of the Roma people worldwide and in Ukraine, in particular, aims to provide a deeper understanding and knowledge about the Roma ethnic group. 

This knowledge will help combat negative stereotypes concerning the Roma community and promote the integration of the Roma people in Transcarpathia into Ukrainian society, fostering the development of a more inclusive and cohesive civil society in Ukraine.

 

The purpose of the integrated certificate program is to ensure that the participants acquire knowledge about the history, cultural heritage, ethnography, social life, social and political movement of the Roma; to help overcome negative stereotypes; establish a mutual dialogue between the Roma and non-Roma population of Transcarpathia in order to build a harmonious civil society in Ukraine

The integrated certification program includes the study of six disciplines:

  • "Ethnogenesis and Ethnic History of Roma"
  • "History and Culture of Roma in Ukraine"
  • "Roma Holocaust (Porajmos, Kalí Traš, Samudaripen)"
  • "Ethnography and Sociology of Roma"
  • "Cultural Heritage of Roma"
  • "Roma Civil-Political Movement"

 

The program is conducted by experts in the field of Romology, political scientists, and public figures from the Transcarpathia region. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate from the Uzhhorod National University.

The integrated certification program is open to students of all majors, whether in full-time or part-time education, as well as those who already possess a basic or full higher education and seek self-improvement and professional development.
