Sustainable Optical Materials and Methods: Education and Research Infrastructure (SOMMER!)

The international project
“Sustainable Optical Materials and Methods: Education and
Research Infrastructure (SOMMER!)”
DAAD “SDG-Partnerships 2024-2027”
(scientific supervisor - prof. O.V. GOMONNAI
Deadline for completion: January 2024 - December 2027.
Project objective: to improve and adapt the educational and scientific processes in Ukrainian universities and research institutions that have been negatively affected by the war by involving undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students in top-level education and research in optics, material science and nanoelectronics through the creation of new digital technology opportunities in combination with access to experimental facilities at a German university.
Outcomes: creation of an inter-university research and training cluster SOMMER! (Sustainable Optical Materials and Modules: Education and Research Infrastructure) as a synergy of education at bachelor, master and doctoral level with a focus on the physics of advanced nanomaterials for sustainable applications. Applications include next-generation photovoltaics, light-emitting devices, photodetectors and sensors. The cluster will include the Chemnitz University of Technology. Chemnitz, two Ukrainian universities, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Uzhhorod National University, and the Institute of Semiconductor Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
