“Shared Places for Heritage, Encounter and Reconciliation in Europe”

Implementation period: May 2025 – April 2028.

Goal: To rethink the role of cultural heritage in European regions affected by conflicts, by transforming shared sacred sites into spaces for dialogue, reconciliation, and cultural diplomacy. The project is based on interdisciplinary cooperation among political scientists, religious studies scholars, legal experts, economists, engineers, IT specialists, museum curators, artists, and peacebuilding non-governmental organisations.

Results: The creation of the first geo-referenced atlas documenting over 150 sites in seven European countries (Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Luxembourg), as well as an interactive digital platform and a mobile application with AR/VR content. In addition, the project provides for public exhibitions, cultural performances involving youth, the preparation of a heritage management guide, and a digital diplomacy toolkit for policymakers, cultural heritage professionals, and civil society.
