“Development of a method for determining the orientation of space objects based on complex observations”
(principal investigator – Candidate of Sciences in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Viktor Kudak)
Duration of the project: April 2020 – November 2020
Purpose: to further expand the functionality and scientific capabilities of the National space facilities control and test center, to determine the characteristics of different classes of artificial satellites by developing and implementation of a method for evaluating the orientation of the artificial satellites in case of absence of connection with them. Method is based on the processing of positional and photometric information from observations in optical wavelength.
Result: a method for estimating the orientation of the satellite in the absence of communication with it based on the processing of positional and photometric information from optical observations was elaborated, as well as recommendations for determining the influence of external factors on changes in the orientation of artificial satellites and priority approaches in estimating the orientation of individual space surfaces devices based on the results of the analysis of brightness curves were formulated.
