The EUI Widening Europe Programme warmly invites master students at Uzhhorod National University to join a workshop on Introduction to data collection and interpretation. 

Building on the expertise of advanced EUI PhD researcher in Social and Political Sciences Anete Ušča, this practical workshop is designed to provide an overview of qualitative data collection methods and analysis and give the opportunity for the students to practically engage with some of them. During the workshop, the students will work with their own research projects, discussing and understanding the best approach and selection of the qualitative methods. While developing an understanding of the general use of qualitative methods, each student will be asked to practically engage in exercises to reflect on their own positionality developing knowledge. During the workshop students will be asked to draft a semi-structured interview outline, conduct a brief interview to test the practical outcome of the intended interview and try data analysis aiming to detect reoccurring themes in the interview texts. The aim of the workshop is to build an understanding of the appropriate qualitative methods to employ in the research projects, as well as to build confidence using them. The workshop is designed to collectively develop knowledge, helping each other by sharing the work in progress and reflecting on the results to strengthen individual approaches and prepare for qualitative data gathering for the master’s research projects.

The workshop is divided into two sessions taking place on 18 September at 12:00- 16:00 EET and 19 September at 12:00- 14:00 EET via Zoom.
