UzhNU authorities visited the Faculty of Chemistry to discuss a number of important issues concerning the further development of the faculty with its teachers
On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, the team of leaders of Uzhhorod National University, headed by the Rector Volodymyr Smolanka, held a working meeting with the teaching staff of the Faculty of Chemistry. The Rector and Vice-rectors, Oleksandr Slyvka and Ihor Studenyak, visited the faculty to discuss a number of important issues aimed at improving the educational and scientific potential of the unit. Such meetings, initiated by the university leadership, will be held at each faculty.
The Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Vasyl Lendiel, noted that over the past two years, the material and technical base and conditions for training at the faculty were significantly improved. "Despite the small number of students studying at the faculty, we maintain good dynamics of our scientific potential. We publish textbooks and articles in professional Ukrainian and foreign editions. Our teachers and students take an active part in university, national and international conferences. However, it is necessary to prioritize the tasks important for further development of the faculty, which cannot be implemented without the support of the university authorities."
Thus, the dean of the faculty stressed that over the past year, the entire roof of the Chemical Faculty building was repaired, several classrooms were renovated and the necessary equipment was purchased. According to Vasyl Lendiel, the highest priority issues for the faculty are the renovation of the facade of the faculty building and laboratories. "To tell the truth, one of the former Rectors, Volodymyr Slyvka, and the current one, Volodymyr Smolanka, were always concerned with the problems of the Faculty of Chemistry. Over the past year, 696 thousand UAH were spent on the purchase of the equipment and materials for the faculty. Thanks to our sponsors, the faculty can boast of the only atomic spectrophotometer in Transcarpathia, which, however, would not work without additional parts and elements that were purchased by the university and cost around 120 thousand UAH." Noted the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry.
The University Rector Volodymyr Smolanka emphasized that the Faculty of Chemistry played an important role, both in the scientific and educational spheres, since it provided training not only to its students but also to over two thousand students of the Faculties of Dentistry, Biology, Medicine and foreign students of Medical Faculty №2. "The university administration and management are well aware that each faculty should be under the supervision and needs constant improvement. We are very much satisfied with the changes that have already taken place at the Faculty of Chemistry; however, we are not going to stop. The main buildings of the Faculties of Chemistry, Physics, and Medicine are architectural monuments and the leadership of the university will keep on working on their renovation in order to preserve their historical importance, and for the safety of those who study or teach there. I want to assure the team of the Chemical Faculty that this year it is planned to repair the X-ray laboratory and laboratory # 309", said the Rector of UzhNU.
Volodymyr Smolanka emphasized once again that the financial situation of the university was good, which allowed for systematic major overhauls.
The curator of the faculty, the First Vice-rector Oleksandr Slyvka emphasized on the need to continue vocational guidance work with entrants, the possibility of further development of the Chemical Faculty, the readiness of the university authorities to provide further support to the chemists and continue working on the improvement of each university unit.
