Ukrainians and Slovaks talked about regional policy at UzhNU
On May 11, an International Scientific and Practical Conference "Regional policy in Ukraine in the context of integration and security of European space: exchange of reforms experiences" was held at UzhNU. It was the third conference within the project "Exchange of European integration know-how and cross-border cooperation experience between Norway, Russia and Ukraine". During the discussion, they talked about the regional policy in Ukraine, including the implementation of administrative-territorial reform. Slovak experts and diplomats shared their experience of public administration reforms in the European Union, etc.
In her welcoming speech, the Vice-Rector of UzhNU for Academic Policy, Research and International Relations Myroslava Lendel said: "Many of the problems of Ukraine are due to the fact that regional policy is neglected. EU experience, where the regional policy is based on economics, responds to citizens’ interests and meets the challenges of ethno-political interests, can help us to prevent separatism and solve our social and political imbalance.
Therefore, Europe, despite certain migration problems, is a multiethnic region, stable in social, political and cultural terms. Today, we have the opportunity to discuss the experience of Eastern European countries, correlate it with the Ukrainian experience and, probably, formulate practical recommendations that will be the basis of analytical notes of the project".
