The Faculty of Postgraduate Education (now the Faculty of Postgraduate Education and Pre-University Education (FPPE)) was opened on February 8, 2000.

80% of the faculty employees have doctoral or candidate of science degrees and, accordingly, the title of professor or associate professor. Among them are Honored Workers of Education and Science, Honored Doctors of Ukraine, winners of State Prizes. Teachers of the faculty in recent years have trained a large number of professionals who work both in Transcarpathia and abroad. Among the graduates are well-known scientists, heads of medical institutions, institutions and employees of various enterprises and organizations.

Educational work in the faculty can be divided into two areas:

• postgraduate education of doctors,
• pre-university training of entrants.

The first direction provides postgraduate education of doctors of the region. Within the walls of the faculty there is training and advanced training of specialists (internship, master's degree, clinical residency, specialization, thematic improvement courses and pre-certification cycles) from 30 medical specialties.

Postgraduate training of doctors is divided into a number of areas and includes training in internships, as well as advanced training of doctors. The internship lasts from 1.5 to 3 years.

About 1,400 cadet doctors study at the faculty during a year. The number of interns is about 450 people each year. Therefore, in total, almost 1850 physicians study at the faculty annually. Young people can also study in clinical residency and graduate school.

The Faculty of Postgraduate Education and Pre-University Education of Uzhhorod National University offers unique specialties for doctors who have only a few Ukrainian universities, for example, specialization for managers - chief physicians and heads of departments.

The faculty also carries out important work in the field of medical reform and is a pioneer in the implementation of family physician training. Also, its employees are members of the coordination council for health care reform at the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the Transcarpathian Regional Council.

During the year, about 1,550 doctors are trained at short-term thematic improvement courses and specialization cycles at the faculty. Every year about 40 doctors enter the clinical residency, half of them foreigners. The structural unit has a lot of teachers who speak English.

Improving the educational process at the stage of postgraduate education is the introduction of distance education, namely - interactive training courses developed on the basis of the distance learning platform "MOODLE". Recalling previous years at the exhibition "Modern Education in Ukraine", organized by the Ministry of Education and Science, thanks to the faculty, the university received a silver medal in the category "Postgraduate Education - a step into the future" for the introduction of new technologies, namely - creating a distance learning platform. And in 2017 in the nomination "Research activities of the educational institution" he won the Grand Prix of Uzhhorod National University and the honorary title of "Leader of postgraduate education".

Over the past 5 years, the faculty has published about 1,200 scientific works, including 29 textbooks and monographs, 54 patents for inventions and utility models, some of which are placed in the depository of Uzhhorod National University.

The Specialized Academic Council for the Defense of Candidate's and Doctoral Dissertations in the Specialties of Internal Medicine and General Practice - Family Medicine, headed by the Dean Prof. Chopey I.V.

The main attention is paid to the fight against plagiarism (academic integrity) at all stages of preparation and defense of dissertations of the candidate of sciences (doctor of philosophy) and doctor of sciences. It should be noted the annual holding of conferences, including 7 international. 8 complex state budget topics have been implemented. Received the Verkhovna Rada Prize for Young Scientists and 7 travel grants. 6 doctoral and 21 candidate dissertations were defended.

The faculty systematically holds international conferences, the most recent of which are "Organizational issues and the most common problems in the practice of family medicine" (October 8, 2019), dedicated to the 74th anniversary of Uzhgorod National University. On April 18-19, 2018, the international scientific-practical conference "Topical issues of providing medical care on the basis of PHC" was held.

Prof. Chopey I.V. is a member of the editorial board of the journals "Family Medicine" and "Ukraine. Health of the Nation ", a member of the editorial board of the journal" Lviv Clinical Bulletin ", a member of the editorial board of the journal" Wiadomości Lekarskie "of the Polish Medical Society.

Therapeutic work is carried out on the basis of almost all city and regional medical institutions, namely: Uzhgorod Regional Clinical Hospital (850 beds); Uzhhorod Central City Clinical Hospital (780 beds); Uzhhorod city polyclinic №1; Uzhhorod district hospital (for 280 beds); hospitals with a polyclinic of the State Institution "TMO of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Zakarpattia region"; KNP "Transcarpathian Regional Clinical Center of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery"; Republican Pulmonology Center of the State Institution "NPMC" Rehabilitation "of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" (100 beds); educational and scientific training center of family medicine and pre-medical care FPODP UzhNU; family outpatient clinics of the Uzhhorod City PHC Center; PKSVD; OKTMO "Phthisiology", etc.

In addition to the above-mentioned clinical institutions of Uzhhorod, the internship bases controlled by the faculty are 12 hospitals, namely: Khust, Mukachevo, Irshava, Svalyava, Berehiv, Vynohradiv, Tyachiv, V. Bereznyanska, Perechyn, Volovets, Rukhiv, Mizhhirska hospitals.

The faculty conducts active international scientific cooperation and is engaged in the introduction of family medicine in Transcarpathia, as well as develops ties with family medicine centers both in Ukraine and abroad (USA, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland), which follows from the implementation of a number of international projects and signing agreements with a number of foreign higher education institutions, including Debrecen Medical University (Hungary), Silesian Medical Academy (Poland), Magdeburg University (Germany) and others.

In 2018-2020, faculty members visited universities and clinics in a number of countries: Germany (Magdeburg), Hungary (Debrecen, Budapest), Slovakia (Kosice, Bratislava), Austria. Vienna), Spain (Barcelona), Ireland (Dublin), France (Paris), Zabrze (Poland), etc.

Agreements on cooperation and exchange of staff and students have been signed with Krakow (Jagiellonian), Portland (USA), Budapest (Hungary), Debrecen (Hungary), Magdeburg (Germany) universities and the Silesian Medical Academy.
