Campus

•     A new container station for waste sorting was installed on the grounds of the main building (in cooperation with AVE); bulky waste from renovations is disposed of properly.

•     During an eco-clean-up in September, the Botanical Garden was cleaned and recyclables were taken to a collection point; on 18 September, students took part in the “Clean Up — Sort It” clean-up.

•     Energy and water saving on campus is described on the SDG 6 and SDG 7 pages.

Education and community

•     The Re:Source project with the NGO “PI Teplytsia”: a presentation for Uzhhorod youth (18 March), 4-day training (8–11 April) and a 2-day hackathon (13–14 May). The UzhNU team developed the environmental board game VIRIDIS (presented on 10–11 December).

•     The Centre for Innovation and Development, with the NGO “Zelenyi Varosh”, held the eco-dialogue “Sorting That Works” and the eco-party “Together on the ECO Wave” with an ideas competition for the community.

•     Technology teachers from the region attended the webinar-workshop “Upcycling in Wood Product Design” (6 November, 35 participants).

•     Tourism students took part in the joint action “Modern Tourism Is Eco-Tourism” by Chysto.de (7 May); college students took part in the Girls Go Circular project.

Research

•     Contract research on improving the environmental performance of printing materials (eco-solvent, UV and hybrid inks).

•     The Erasmus+ project “Gender, Digitalisation, Green” is developing a course on the European Green Deal with a focus on the circular bioeconomy; ChemHub raises awareness of “green” approaches in chemistry.
