Conference “Customs Reform: From a Regional Challenge to a National Interest”

On 15 October 2026, Uzhhorod National University will host a conference-presentation of the monitoring results with an expert discussion “Customs Reform: From a Regional Challenge to a National Interest”.
The organisers invite representatives of the academic and expert community, state authorities, customs bodies, business, public organisations and other stakeholders to take part in the event.
The event will have a research-and-practice format and will become a concluding platform for presenting and discussing the results of a three-year monitoring study of the implementation of customs reform in Zakarpattia and Lviv oblasts.
Within the framework of the conference, the results of monitoring for 2024–2026 will be presented, in particular regarding the institutional capacity of customs bodies, digitalisation of customs procedures, transparency and integrity, staffing and infrastructure challenges, interaction between customs and business, regional specifics of the implementation of the reform and the use of European customs instruments.
A separate part of the event will be the expert discussion “Customs Reform in Action: Institutional Capacity, Digitalisation and Practical Effect”, dedicated to discussing the monitoring results, current challenges and priorities for further reforming Ukraine's customs system in the context of European integration.
