UzhNU Became a Winner of the Competitive Selection for a U.S. Department of State Programme

Uzhhorod National University successfully passed the competitive selection and received the opportunity to host an American educator within the U.S. Department of State’s Virtual English Language Educator Program during the autumn semester of 2026.

The program is implemented by the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine in partnership with Georgetown University, which conducts the competitive selection of experienced American specialists. The initiative is fully funded by the Government of the United States of America.

An American educator, Mr Sean Chakrabarti, has been engaged in cooperation with UzhNU. He holds a master’s degree in adult education, a District of Columbia adult educator license, and an international TEFL certificate, confirming his qualification in teaching English as a foreign language.

Classes will be held virtually from September 28 to December 19, 2026. Sean Chakrabarti will co-teach the course “Methods of Teaching English” (as a foreign language) for fourth-year bachelor’s and first-year master’s students (Faculty of Foreign Philology, Faculty of International Economic Relations) who are obtaining the qualification of an English teacher. He will also be involved in teaching the practical English language course for fourth-year bachelor’s students.

Participation in the program will contribute to improving the professional and language competencies of future English teachers, familiarizing students with modern international teaching methodologies, as well as deepening cooperation between UzhNU, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, and American educational institutions.

We sincerely thank the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and Georgetown University for supporting this important educational initiative and for their trust in UzhNU. We wish the participants fruitful work, professional development, and inspiring intercultural communication!
