UzhNU signed a cooperation agreement with Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin, Poland)

On Monday, 19 June, the Rector of UzhNU, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka, and the Rector of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Professor Radosław Dobrowolski, signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities. The meeting was attended by Vice-Marshal of Lublin Voivodeship Zbigniew Wojciechowski, Director of the Institute of Fine Arts of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Professor Krzysztof Szymanowicz and Ukrainian diplomat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Czech Republic (2009-2012), Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin, Poland (2012-2015) Ivan Hrytsak.

The meeting was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Associate Professor Yaroslava Hasynets and the Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Associate Professor Ivan Kalynych. In addition, the meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts Anna Bokshan and the Vice-Rector for Research of the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts, Doctor of Art History Mykhailo Pryimych.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka thanked his Polish colleagues for the great support that their country provides to Ukrainians and Ukraine.

It is worth noting that the scientists of UzhNU and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University already have considerable experience of cooperation. As the Dean of the Faculty of Biology Yaroslava Hasynets noted: "Another meeting with Polish partners brings us closer to the implementation of a scientific and educational project on climate change adaptation. The prerequisite for this was the long-term cooperation with our Polish colleagues and scientists. The territory of the UzhNU Botanical Garden in the Shakhta neighbourhood is used as a scientific station for studying many biological and environmental problems, and is a monitoring site for studying the dynamics of changes in natural forest ecosystems. Currently, the territory of the Botanical Garden in the Shakhta area is planned as a site for scientific research under the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine programme, which is agreed upon by all partner parties."

Under the terms of the agreement, the universities agree to jointly carry out research and educational work, carry out joint cultural activities, educational and scientific exchange between teachers and researchers. They also agreed to exchange information, materials and scientific publications in areas of interest to both universities.
