Uzhhorod University Expands International Partnership: Agreement Signed with Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences
Uzhhorod University is expanding its international academic cooperation with European higher education institutions. On Thursday, September 3, Uzhhorod University and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences signed a cooperation agreement. For this purpose, the university was visited by the President of Darmstadt University, Professor, Doctor of Engineering Arnd Steinmetz, and Professor of the Department of Social Work, Doctor of Social Sciences Katrin Luise Leser. The guests were welcomed by Acting Rector of Uzhhorod University Volodymyr Smolanka, Vice-Rector of UzhNU Myroslava Lendel, and representatives of the Department of Sociology and Social Work.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for future cooperation, areas of work and development of both universities, as well as the challenges faced by Ukrainian higher education under the conditions of the full-scale war. In particular, they discussed the importance of European support for Ukraine, strengthening international academic ties, and opportunities for joint educational and research projects.
Representatives of Darmstadt University also noted UzhNU’s strong international cooperation and its extensive network of partnerships with foreign universities.
The signed document certifies the universities’ intention to develop partnership in areas of mutual academic interest, deepen educational and scientific ties, and create new opportunities for academic mobility.
One of the key areas of cooperation will be the mutual exchange of students and researchers. Participants will have the opportunity to study, conduct research, and take part in educational and scientific projects of the partner university.
Particular attention in the agreement is paid to the development of joint scientific activities. The universities will seek to carry out joint research, develop projects, and jointly publish the results of scientific work.
The partnership also provides for cooperation in the educational sphere, in particular the joint development of educational content and regulatory documents concerning the conduct of examinations, as well as mutual support for students in preparing qualification theses.
The new partnership is intended to contribute to the further integration of Uzhhorod University into the European educational and scientific space, the development of academic mobility, and the strengthening of the university’s international ties.
