On 13 October, as part of the study of the academic discipline "Health Psychology", at the initiative and organisation of Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor of the Department Uliana Mykhailyshyn, a guest meeting was held with an invited practising specialist, Serhii Skrypynets.
About the speaker:
Serhii Skrypynets -
psychotherapist, psychiatrist, accredited EMDR therapist and supervisor, teacher of the Mindful Self-Compassion programme, and also a postgraduate student of the Department of Psychology of Uzhhorod University.
The event went far beyond a classical lecture and turned into a lively, interactive space for professional discussion. Students not only asked pertinent questions but also actively expressed their own points of view, shared their reflections and reflected on their future profession.
During the discussion, the most topical issues were addressed:
🔹 What challenges clients bring: contemporary requests were analysed - from anxiety states, traumatic experience and emotional exhaustion to the search for inner supports and difficulties with self-acceptance.
🔹 The path into psychotherapy: the speaker shared his own experience of establishing himself in the profession, his first steps in practice and how to choose one's own guidelines in psychotherapeutic activity.
🔹 Ethical limits and boundaries: a detailed discussion was held on where the boundaries lie in the "psychotherapist - client" relationship, how to maintain them and whether there have been cases in practice of their blurring or violation.
Summary of the meeting:
health psychology is not only about methods and tools, but first and foremost about a deep ethical culture, the ability to maintain boundaries, the cultivation of mindful self-compassion and the preservation of one's own resources.
We sincerely thank Serhii Skrypynets for his professional openness, practical depth and generosity in sharing his experience, and the students for the courage of their thoughts, pertinent questions and active discussions!
