Representatives of Uzhhorod University took part in the international youth summit #NOVAdays 2026 in Budapest

A delegation of the Student Scientific Society of Uzhhorod National University joined the international youth summit #NOVAdays 2026, which took place on 3–4 October in Budapest. The event brought together representatives of state institutions of Ukraine and Hungary, the diplomatic corps, education and science, media, the civil sector, business, and youth organisations.

The summit became a platform for open dialogue between young people and those who make decisions at the state and international levels. Among the speakers were People's Deputy of Ukraine Yuliia Hryshyna, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Hungary Fedir Shandor, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Gábor Ferenc Nagy (Nagy Gábor Ferenc), Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvii Bidnyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Andrii Butenko, Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, as well as representatives of the youth, scientific, media, and civil environments of both countries.

The key topics of discussion were youth cooperation, education, international partnership, the development of civil society, and the exchange of experience between representatives of various fields. The format of the summit enabled participants not only to hear the positions of government officials and diplomats but also to join the discussion, offer their own vision of Ukrainian-Hungarian interaction, and establish new professional contacts.

For Uzhhorod University, which has long-standing academic ties with Hungarian partners and actively develops international cooperation, participation in such events is an important component of integrating student science into the European educational space.

The university was represented at the summit by:

  • Olena Keretsman — a 4th-year student of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, acting head of the Student Scientific Society of UzhNU;
  • Oleksandra Rishko — a 6th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine;
  • Alina Berets — a 5th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine;
  • Mariia Manziuk — assistant at the Department of International Economic Relations of the Faculty of International Economic Relations.

Acting head of the Student Scientific Society of UzhNU Olena Keretsman shared her impressions of participating in the summit: “For me this was a very valuable experience, primarily because of the opportunity to communicate with people from absolutely different fields — from representatives of state institutions and diplomats to scholars, public figures, and youth organisations. What impressed me most was precisely the diversity of opinions and openness to dialogue. As a representative of the university's Student Scientific Society, I was particularly interested to see how young people can be involved in such international discussions and processes.”
